N!Satterfield Miami Artist

N!Satterfield's BlogN! Satterfield is a Miami artist and has been producing Miami art since before kindergarten, although the majority of his earliest creative endeavors were produced on the property of others. Stealthily working as a guerilla artist N! made contributions to the dumpster nations and back-alley landscapes of Savannah, Georgia, Chicago, Illinois, and Florida, Miami art before being invited to display his unique characters inside established art spaces throughout the world.

N! Satterfield's particular brand of mark-making is the result of time intensive and intricately shaped designs which are meticulously cut into heavy paper. Acrylic latex paint is then propelled through these strategically designed openings to gradually build the designs eventually produced. His images are both technically challenging and aesthetically engaging, and many times he cajoles the viewer into contemplating the images wrapping and covering his heavily hand-worked surfaces he paints on.

The intentional limitations N! Miami Artist places on his artwork (working solely in spray paint, creating images solely from multiple stencils, working solely on flat planar surfaces) all create a unique look to his productions. N! willfully eschews the established norm of "placing a frame around art" by fabricating his own raised boxed structures to paint on. By allowing his images to fold around corners of these boxes N! defies the very idea of a "Miami artist canvas" and embraces the mechanics of "street art". Although adamantly defiant, he has never lost the sense of whimsical wonder evident in his work from his preschool days.

N! Satterfield Miami artist constantly proves stencil-based artwork can transcend it's sign-making history as he blurs any line between past and future. While critically described as, Graffiti for the Jungle Book, N! prefers to describe his work as, "21st Century Urban Folk Art" since much of his raw material and inspiration comes from recycling/reclaiming what the modern industrial complex has discarded. His tiki art has shown in galleries in New York, Florida, Georgia, and California, as well as in both Austria and Romania.
